Apple Oatmeal Crumble
There’s nothing homier than a warm apple crumble. Yum!
Ingredients
3-4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
1 TB. water
Crumble:
1 1/4 Cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. PENZEYS CINNAMON
5 TB. cold butter, cut into pieces
1/3 Cup oats (Niall uses steel cut; old fashioned oatmeal would work as well)
6 TB. brown sugar (Niall uses light brown)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°. In a saucepan, combine the apples and water. Simmer over medium-low heat until softened, about 10-15 minutes. While apples are cooking, in a large bowl, stir together the flour and CINNAMON. Rub in the cold butter and work with your hands until the mixture resembles bread crumbs. Don’t over-mix it or it won’t be crunchy. Add the oats and sugar and mix to combine. Spoon the cooked apples into a 9x13 baking dish. Sprinkle the crumble over the apples. Bake at 350° for 30-45 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
